Renewable Energy in Po Touch Village, Kandal Province, with all the Power Pallet Project Sopheak Seng and Michael Shaw
I actually. Abstract
Power has become a crucial topic in Cambodia as global warming has been known to many Cambodian people. The Royal Cambodian Authorities has already put their head toward this topic, and so they well realized the implications of this concern. As a result, hydroelectric dams are being constructed throughout the country to provide the cheaper clean energy and cut down the application of fossil gasoline. Unfortunately, the cheap renewable electrical power is not available to every single citizen. In many provinces, people still always buy electric power from personal companies by a high price, $0. 35-$0. 85 (UNDP Cambodia, 2010). Po Touch community is one of the neighborhoods where people living there have no choice and pay in least $0. 3 every kilo-watt hour energy. This report have been done in so that it will find a fresh electricity power with a better price, and that is not harmful to the environment to provide electricity to people who live there. The village involves about two hundred houses, however in term of a mini-scale project, we certainly have chosen only a small selection of houses to gauge. We have chose to consider the electricity-from-waste-or-biomass. In the event the project is known as a success, we will make an additional consideration of a larger job which could cover the whole town.
II. Background Information
Po Feel Village is found in Kompong Loung Commune, Ponhea Leu Section, Kandal Region which is about 35 kms north of Phnom Penh. The village has 290 houses that are currently using the electricity electricity provide by the Udong Power Supply Company (the Udong Power company, personal communication, Might 2012), and a lot of the people are by the river area. The main portion of the village is the area around industry which is on the southern advantage. Most of the people are channel class, yet there are some poor families as well.

Almost every house now is directly using the electricity provided by this private firm. The new price is 1200 Riel or perhaps about $0. 3 every kilowatt-hour. Virtually every family inside the village can be using CFLs for lighting which spend a lot of one's. To find a new electricity generator, we want to look at a bio-energy engine from the Gasifier Experimenters Kit's store. The electricity firm is now using the fossil energy diesel that is harmful to the environment. For this reason, we all Figure 1 ) Position of Po Touch. want to find a electrical generator that will run on biomass and in addition provide less expensive electricity.
3. Data Research on Current Electricity Use
There are simply 290 homes which are immediately connecting to the electricity's system of the company. Yet , there are much more than 290 properties in the village, but the staying houses are either not using the electrical power or connecting their electric powered system for the any properties that directly connect to the company's system. We took the amount of electricity power utilized in 24 residences in March 2012 by simply an interview. Listed below are the statistics and the location of the residences.
